When you were scared there in the dark,
We shone the light that calmed you.
When your heart broke deep and wide,
It was our voice that balm’d you.
When you needed to be brave,
We nurtured and we cheered you.
We gave you safety in our arms,
When bullies came ‘round and jeered you.
And now it looks to be the case,
Our rights and bodies by politics peddled.
An unprecedented disregard of precedent,
Rights stripped after long being settled.
Women’s rights are HUMAN RIGHTS.
And the silence is deafening and telling.
If the situation were reversed,
We’d be by your side screaming and yelling.
We gave you life.
We gave you love.
